Bread & Work Workshop
At PARCE, we organize themed workshops that are conceptually linked to our exhibitions. For example, we are currently exhibiting the work of Luis Hernandez Mellizo, whose work "Bread and Work" explores the transformation of labor and its objects through formal change. In connection with this theme, we have planned a bread making workshop that will provide participants with insights into creating and transforming an everyday object.

Making Ancestral “Chucula”
In this workshop, participants will learn how to make the original ancestral chocolate drink, which has been made for over 3,000 years by the different cultures that lived from Mexico to Peru (e.g. the Muisca tribe in the Colombian central region) and which are still part part of social and family interactions.
We use raw and unshelled cocoa beans which most people, including factories and chocolate makers, are not familiar with as they are normally processed before leaving their original farms. In this way, we also guarantee the use of 100% cocoa.
Cocoa and the other ingredients of the ancestral recipe, such as peanuts, panela (sugar cane paste), cloves, cinnamon, and toasted cornflour, go through several processes to finally be rolled into balls that, when mixed with milk or water, give the ancestral chocolate drink. The participant has an active role in every phase of the process.

Disclaimer:
After two years of conducting workshops, we have refined our approach to best serve our community. Currently, we offer three types of workshops:
-
Fully Private: Designed for closed groups, including companies, where we offer discounts for early partial payments. Full prices apply for these workshops.
-
Open Workshops: Our most common format, with varying prices based on early registration. We offer subsidized rates for students and those in difficult situations, funded either by Parce or through contributions from those paying full price.
-
Semi-Open with City of Gent Support: These workshops are funded through city grants, allowing us to offer more specialized or costly activities. Participants may pay a small fee of €5 to ensure their spot, with potential for higher fees if additional costs exceed the grant. This format guarantees access to target audiences and often provides reduced fees for those with limited resources.
Our goal is not to profit but to cover costs and continue providing valuable art experiences. We aim to offer meaningful engagement with art and culture, helping individuals connect in their unique ways.
