Kindi Llajtu Álvarez Jacanamijoy is a Colombian painter from the Inga culture. Born on September 1, 1975, in Manoy, Santiago, Putumayo, Kindi's artistic journey began in his childhood, where he immersed himself in ancestral wisdom and his cultural heritage through the guidance of his grandparents. His passion for art led him to explore the depths of his tradition and express it through his unique artistic style. Having participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions across Mexico, France, Colombia, and Brazil, Kindi has gained recognition for his exceptional artwork, winning important distinctions such as being a finalist at the Fernando Botero award of 2005 and a selected project in the World Bank "El Cambio" (Change) Project and the "Calendario Propal 2005". For Kindi, the line is a powerful symbol that represents a river, a tree, a horizon, or a vessel. He perceives the line as a flexible entity, much like a snail that contracts and expands. In his works, he channels the ancestral wisdom of his culture, employing an acrylic oil canvas technique.

This technique allows him to create a multicolored background that appears textured but feels smooth to the touch.* As one of the major indigenous artists, Kindi Llajtu occupies a significant place in Colombia's contemporary art scene. His artwork reflects a fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary artistic techniques, demonstrating a harmonious blend of traditional values and up-to-date knowledge. Despite the ongoing debates surrounding the relevance of

painting in  contemporary art, Kindi boldly embraces the medium,

recognizing that artistic expression knows no bounds in the 21st

century.

Kindi's work celebrates the expressive validity of cultural differences and convictions, untouched by the homogenizing effects of globalization. By drawing upon the freedoms and resources of contemporary art, he creates works that are not only comprehensible but also captivating, illustrative, and thought-provoking. In an era where the foundations of Western civilization are being increasingly questioned, Kindi's art stands as a testament to the importance of diverse perspectives.

His name "Kindi" means Hummingbird's plumage.
