Ō MOTH is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Ghent.
Ō MOTH obtained a degree in Fine Arts from Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia and participated in many individual and group exhibitions in amongst others Argentina, Australia, Belgium Colombia, Mexico and Spain. Price winning projects include the 2023 BigCi Artist in Residency in Australia, a Selected Project at the Colombian Cultural Ministry’s Curatorial Project (15 Regional Hall), and Curatorial Winner titles in contests held by the Colombian Cultural Ministry, the Modern Art Museum of Bogotá (MAMBO), and the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota. Next to the artistic career, Ō MOTH also has a background in law, i.e. holding a Master's in Legal Research, and another in European Law and Economics. Finally, Ō MOTH also writes stories and other literary compositions.
Delving into personal identity, Ō MOTH's work emphasizes a connection to a transcendent consciousness. The artist prompts viewers to reflect on the collective nature of knowledge, challenging assumptions about reality. Ō MOTH's exploration encourages a dialogue on shared human experiences and the intricate interplay between consciousness and the tangible world.
The exhibition "Eclosión" represents a positive and nostalgic look at a world that hatches after us or that does so continuously while we exist, regardless of our perceptions and thoughts about it.
It is a look at the emergence of new worlds, where everything seems to be contingent. What remains? This theme aligns seamlessly with the artist's broader exploration of reality and consciousness.
